jus' a thing

   My name is Blaine, and I'm an anthro lion. I have brown fur, and a black mane and goatee. I may seem pretty normal, but there's another thing about me: I'm mute. Yes, mute as in 'can't say a word'. I never though I would be able to find someone who was mute (it's sorta uncommon where I live), but the book store provided my answers. Not in a book form, though.
    Oh, no, not in a book form.
     I was walking to the bookstore at my usual time (around 6:30) to go read some books. Just as I was going in the door, I bumped into someone. There was a small cry of surprise from the cashier, and I tumbled over in a confused state. Landing on top of someone, I finally opened my eyes.
     Underneath me was the prettiest girl I had ever seen. She had shining bue hair, and deep yellow eyes. She was blushing about as hard as I was. I gulped, waiting for her to scream her anger at me. Nothing happened. I quickly sprang off of her. I gave her my paw, and helped her up. Not waiting for her to say anything, I hurried away. I hid behind a bookshelf, trying to calm my punding heart. How embarrassing! Not even able to say sorry, too. She must think I was a total jerk.
    I could hear one of the clerks talking to her. I inched closer, subconciously hoping for her to say something about me. 'That was Blaine,' the clerk said, and I could hear her giggling. I didn't catch the next part, thinking it was just stupid things, but as I turned to head further into the bookstore, I heard the clerk say 'He's mute like you!'
    I came to a screeching halt, the words echoing around my brain. 'Mute like you.' She's mute, like me! Mute as in 'can't say a word'!
     Woah.
     I never thought I would find another mute person around where I lived. Right then and there, I decided to learn more about her. I walked up to the clerk, tapped her on the shoulder, and pointed at the receding back of the girl. "Oh, her?" The clerk said. "Her name is Adi. she usually comes to the bookstore on Wednesdays and Fridays." The clerk elbowed me, her eyebrows going up and down. "Maybe you can catch her on Friday," she said slyly, then quickly moved away.
     Not only have I found another mute person, I also know that she lives in the area. I rubbed my paw where I had touched her hand to help her up.   Who knows, I thought happily. Maybe we could get to be good friends...
